Moxiang's Story Time

Moxiang’s teacher reads and discusses an Illustrated Chinese storybook to your child. The rich illustrations help your child understand the story and allows the teacher to introduce a story with a greater depth and wider vocabulary. It is a fast and effective way to improve your child’s listening, speaking, understanding, grammar and pronunciation in Chinese. In addition, exposure to fun books, will spark a child's imagination and encourage a love of reading.

Exciting stories encourage discussion and learning

The storybook reading is interspersed with discussions and children are encouraged to speak up in Chinese. From a fearless mouse befriending a blind elephant, to a cub bear losing his grandfather to illness, the stories we tell are emotional, thought provoking and beautiful. When children are excited about a story, they can’t wait to share ideas of what the character should do in a dilemma, who the ‘bad guy’ is or why the character is sad or angry.

Good oral language skills improve reading and writing in children

Moxiang's Story Time develops your child's oral language skills. Children who can’t understand or speak Chinese well, can get overwhelmed when they have to tackle reading or write an essay. It is no wonder some children dislike Chinese. When your child has good oral language skills, he already knows the word meaning, pronunciation and grammar. This leaves just one thing your child needs to focus on for reading: character recognition. This takes out a lot of frustration for your child when learning Chinese reading and writing.
